You're looking down from the hills towards Hexham. In the centre, you can see Hexham Abbey (founded in 674 AD), which until Henry VIII fell out with the Pope, was a thriving monastery.

Hexham is a market town, which is the focal point for the Tyndale Valley. The market is held on Tuesdays in the market square which is right next to the Abbey.

If you visit Hexham, be sure to tour the Abbey - perhaps sit in St. Winfred's chair and take a look around the antique shops.

If you're there on a Friday, you can buy a copy of the local newspaper - The Hexham Courant.
