Forms

Some web pages contain a 'form' which you can fill in and submit to a web site. Here is a simple example:

Enter information in the form below and click 'Send this'
Feel free to say anything you like because it will simply be used to create a page to send back to you.
(If you really want to comment on our web site, then, why not sign our guest book. It will not be ignored!)

To use forms effectively, you really need access to  CGI or PHP on your web server. PHP is probably easier to learn. This form sends information to a php page, which then uses it to construct a new web page. Many websites use them to collect responses from their visitors in preference to putting an e-mail link on a web page. Using an e-mail link on a web page now results in a great increase in spam. You will often see forms used in guest books, surveys, email pages and in on line shopping web sites.
