Making
Money With Your Website
|
Obviously,
if you are a business, you can use your web site to display
your products and sell them by mail order. Lots of businesses
do - they construct their web pages and sit back and wait
for the money to roll in ... and wait ... and wait ... and
wait. The usual thing that happens, is no one finds them and
they make no sales. They then give up, and from that moment,
are convinced that all this talk about the Internet is a load
of rubbish! The answer is, that you must publicize your web
site. Having publicized it, you must keep doing so. Read the
section on publicizing your web site for hints on how to do
this.
Even
if you are not selling, you can still make money from your
web pages. You do this by advertising for other people.
Don't get the idea that you will become rich though. Advertisements
on the World Wide Web are not well paid, despite the fact
that they can more accurately target their audience. For
some examples, follow
this link. By advertising for others on your site, you
can get paid:
- For
every time someone clicks on your link, banner or button
- For
every confirmed sale made as a result of someone following
a link from your site
- For
every sale made as a recommendation from your site
- For
sales made from the sites of others who set a link on
their pages, as a result of following your link
- Although
they will never grace our site, the X-rated banners
pay the highest rates and are thus one of the most popular
on the web. NO! we don't have a link for you to follow!
For
an example of how you can persuade people to make you money,
try looking at this idea. The
money tree. If people do click on any of the advertisements
they see on this site, then the site owner must be making
a fortune! OK - we admit it, the first time we went there,
we clicked and clicked and clicked. :)
There
are big catches however to putting advertisements
on your site:
- Some
of the advertisements are down right ugly and will spoil
the appearence of your page.
- Some
advertisements are slow to load.
- Too
many advertisements will discourage people from going
to your web site in the first place.
- The
majority of free space sites forbid paid advertising
- This site - cybercities does, but will, at the moment,
allow unpaid advertisements such as the one at the top
of this page.
