The game map changes from player to player so these game locations do move. If you look hard enough, you'll find them. If a little cheating is OK with you then the commands you need are:
/cheat
/fly
Pressing the space bar now makes you go up and Ctrl makes you go down. WSAD move you as before but now relative to the direction you are facing. Pressing Shift at the same time makes you move really fast.
Quick links - Key: Green relatively safe; Amber risky; Red dangerous
You won't have any difficulty in finding this location but did you know there is a second crashed ship? Usually it's on an island and hanging off a cliff.
Another easy to find location because like the crashed ship you can press 'L' and set a waypoint to it. At the opposite end of the map though is a second mechanic station, but this one is in a much riskier location near a warehouse.
An excellent source of materials if you have an autocrafter. A vacuum gun helps to dismantle them but isn't essential. Dismantle everything and recycle the result except for the toilets. The best method is to take a vehicle with lots of chests and an autocrafter on board
You'll need to take vegetables in lots of 10 here to pack them for the trader. To find it come out of the mechanic station and follow the road right. There are other vegetable packing stations on the map much further away.
Take packed crates of fruit, packed vegetables and caged farmers here to trade for new seed varieties and other items. To find the trader go past the vegetable packing station and take the first turn on the left. Once the road ends the entrance to his site should be straight ahead and up a hill. You'll know you are near the trader when you start seeing lots of 'no entry' signs (ignore them). Leave a beacon here to help find it.
Keep going past the fruit packing station and you may come across a maze built from hay bales. Apparently this area is safe from all bots except haybots. I would have thought this area would be ideal for placing a yellow damaged crate in - but there isn't one.
The area at the maze centre appears to be a weak spot in the world. If you are in 'god mode' and flying, then flying at speed at the ground here may let you fall through the ground. This is useful if you experience a game glitch and lose something below ground. You can fly underground to where the lost item is and retrieve it. If you then keep flying down you will fall back into the world and land as normal with your recovered item.
You can only access these floating islands if you have constructed an aircraft of some sort or if you cheat (Press Enter then type /cheat and /fly commands). These islands in the air usually contain trees, rock outcrops, oil sources and chests. If you are lucky you'll get yellow or even red chests which give highly desirable rewards.
If you find these pages useful you can return the favour by downloading a FREE ebook from Amazon - even if you don't read it, it will help our rankings! I think you'll probably like it though.
It's the first book of a series of 9 books (so far) which tell the story of how life on Earth was saved from a cataclysmic extinction when a rogue planetoid collides with Earth in 7141. This first book deals with how humanity was made immortal, giving us the incentive to do something about an event so far in the future.
Take a touch of humour, add some genetic science and nanotechnology. Steep with conspiracy and stir in murder and despair. Season with romance between three people in a secret location. Garnish with morality.
The result is 'Immortality Gene', the first in a novel series by John and Shelia Chapman. The ebook of book 1 is FREE and available at multiple retailers
The fruit packing station is further away. To find it turn left when leaving the trader and cross a hayfield. You should then be able to see it. Beware - there may be a farmbot around. If you see one and haven't got a spud shotgun and lots of potato amunition - run!
There are several burnt forests in Scrap mechanic. There should be one near the hayfield you cross to get to the fruit packing station. Use these areas to get embers for refining metals and making glass. In some burnt forests you'll find a campsite with a single caged farmer.
There are two types of chemical plant. Somewhere on the map you'll find this complete plant. Other chemical plants may be ruined and there's probably one not too far away from the mechanic station. Both can be recognised by the pool of pink liquid they contain. Be careful not to fall in one since the chemical will kill you and the inventory bag left behind may be impossible to recover without cheating and entering 'God' mode. The chemical does not affect bots though.
You'll find some desert areas with a pool of oil. It's a useful source of oil to make fuel (gas) from and it's required to make suspension units. Be careful not to fall in the pool - that will kill you. Usually there is a farmbot in the surrounding area.
In some cornfields you'll find a fenced off area with a shack. There are seeds to be found here and the shack may be dismantled for resources. Some of these resources can't be found outside warehouses elsewhere and you can't make them in an autocrafter. You are likely to find these fairly close to a warehouse so beware of roaming farmbots.
Recognise these areas because of the brown and gold trees. You'll find cotton growing here. You may also find a campsite with a single caged farmer. There may be a farmbot here too which can be difficult to spot in this background.
A site where you will find three caged farmers which respawn every 12 hours real time. This is the easiest place to get caged farmers if you have a vehicle like 'Bluebird'. To find the campsite travel over water following the coast from the mechanic station keeping right. Eventually you'll find the campsite next to a lagoon. This is a place you need to leave a beacon at so you can find it easier the next time since Bluebird can take short cuts over land.
Due north from the maze is a water filled hole with sleeping capsules scattered around. This is in a dangerous area with a warehouse and autumn forest nearbye. There may be a farmbot prowling around. Check out the underwater capsules for damaged crates.
See that building in the background? It's worth exploring for yellow damaged crates.
This is a special type of burnt forest. A very dangerous place because there are lots of farmbots here. You can recognise the area because there are partially melted farmbots around. You'll also find a campsite with a caged farmer here.
A bare patch of ground surrounded by forest. A great place to visit if you have some powerful weapons because you'll find lots of bots to fight there, including possibly, a farmbot.
These are dangerous places which beginners should avoid since outside there are tapebots which need an advanced weapon such as a spudgun to destroy. Outside you'll also find a farmbot which you must destroy to get the warehouse key needed for entry. Inside you'll find lots more tapebots and lots of goodies.
A collection of buildings to explore. It's dangerous because there are lots of bots here including three farmbots. Make sure you visit the highest point because there's a yellow chest there.
Back in 1982 early text only adventure games were being written for home computers. One such game was 'Castle of Riddles' written by Peter Killworth and published by Acornsoft. Now it's been re-written and greatly expanded with added images and sound. Play it on your computer, tablet or even a phone.

I've written a number of short time travel stories. Each is 99p/99¢ and great for taking a break from Scrap Mechanic.
