You are now ready to start the next task, powering up the ship.
To get the power cell you need you'll have to take a trip away from the ship. Before you do that it's time to learn about the bots and how to defend yourself against them.
Name: Green totebot
Very common on land. Dislikes swimming but can swim on the surface.
Defense: Hit with the hammer and retreat.
Rewards: Circuit boards, bolts, screws, Occasional green totebot head
Name: Blue totebot
Common near water. Swims underwater
Defense: Hit with the hammer and retreat.
Rewards: Circuit boards, bolts, screws, Occasional blue totebot head
Name: Haybot
Common everywhere. Can be silent and sneaks up behind you on land. Circles to put you in a worse position and may work with other bots. Can't swim.
Defense: Hit with the hammer and retreat.
Rewards: Circuit boards, bolts, screws, occasional component kit, one scrap metal arm.
Name: Heavy haybot
Brown in colour. Circles to put you in a worse position and may work with other bots. Can't swim.
Defense: Hit multiple times with the hammer and retreat.
Rewards: Circuit boards, bolts, screws, component kits, two scrap metal arms
Name: Beebot
Found near some bee colonies. They will drop down on you, pick you up and drop you from a hight, killing you through fall damage.
Defense: Hit multiple times with the hammer before or immediatly when they pick you up.
Rewards: Circuit boards, wax, bolts, screws, component kits, four scrap metal arms. Very occasionaly a thruster.
Name: Straw dog
Found wherever haybots are found but less common. These are agressive bots which will chase you. Unlike the other bots they can't be destroyed by crushing. Water destroys them.
Defense: 1. Hit multiple times with the hammer while retreating.
2. Lure them into water.
Rewards: Circuit boards, bolts, screws, component kits, batteries, scrap metal and corn
Name: Tapebot
Found in warehouses. Very dangerous. Shoots rolls of tape; two hits will kill
Defense: You are unlikely to get near enough to hit them with a hammer. Best defense is to shoot them from a distance with a spud gun. They can walk underwater and shoot there too.
Rewards: Circuit boards, bolts, screws, batteries, Occasional head
Name: Farmbot
Big. Found in or near warehouses, in autumn forests and near fruit packing stations. The ultimate danger. Will kill and destroy with a single blow from a scyth and fire poison gas. Can't be killed with a hammer. Can't swim but can walk underwater.
Defense: Fire at them multiple times with a spud shotgun while retreating. When destroyed they will explode and that can kill you.
Rewards: Circuit boards, bolts, screws, metal, component kits plus one warehouse key. 10% chance of getting a farmbot drill.
You need to find the power cell needed. Fortunately its position is now marked by the exclamation mark. It's in the ruined building at the end of the ship crash track.
Go there, collecting goodies from chests on the way. Be cautious - there's a good chance you will run into bots which you will have to destroy. By the time I had started to climb the stairs of the ruined building I found I had collected 3 soil bags, a component kit, a sun shake, a red beet, another bucket, a tomato, 2 circuit boards, 5 carrot seeds, 2 tomato seeds, 3 totebot bars, a carrot, 2 red beet seeds, 6 fuel. I'd also been attacked by a green and red totebot from which I got another 5 circuit boards, 2 nuts and a green totebot head.
When I did this, by the time I'd explored the first level of the ruined building I'd found 9 chemicals, 4 tomato seeds, 2 carrot seeds, 4 redbeet seeds, 4 red beet, 2 component kits, a soil bag 5 fuel, a sunshake I'd also found 2 scrap metal haybot arms (which can be refined by holding 'E' on them to 10 scrap metal blocks each) and the ship power cell. Don't stop exploring though, you can get to the next levels where I found 2 circuit boards, a carrot seed, 2 carrots, 2 red beet, 2 tomato seeds, some fries (which make you jump higher for 30 seconds) and another scrap metal arm. The last levels are very tricky to get to since you will have to use the lift. Place it, stand on it and press the up arrow of your keyboard to use it. This particular ruined building is different from all the other buildings in the world in that it doesn't regenerate chests. Once you've collected them all you won't need to return.
Return to the ship with your items and with the ship power cell moved into your hotbar, select it and click the empty slot where it fits.
Notice that little bag icon which I circled in the image? That means I got killed at that location and a bag containing my entire inventory at the time of my death can be retrieved from there. You can use the bag icon to find that place. As you get near, it will change to a diamond.
A trivial task. Turn around and move to the exclamation mark. Press 'E' when it appears.
Now, when you press 'L' you'll have a second 'Mechanic Station' waypoint available. Set it and move outside the ship. Look around to find it.

I've written a number of short time travel stories. Each is 99p/99¢ and great for taking a break from Scrap Mechanic.
