You're looking across the River Thames at Greenwich.

Greenwich is world famous, by being, Longditude 0, and the home of 'Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

At Greenwich, you'll find the Royal Observatory, which in the days before London street lights made it unuseable, was important in making calculations for navigators.
Marked on the ground outside, you'll find a brass strip, showing the location of Longditude 0, where East meets West.

You can take a boat trip from here up the Thames.
